A little seagull we named Psomi, inspired the idea behind little hellenes. One summer in Greece while taking a ferry to Kerkyra/Corfu, we noticed a flock of seagulls begin to follow the boat. People instinctively walked over to the side and threw them bread. While it’s a common and seemingly simple thing to witness, it somehow connected me to our culture of the sea and the modern traditions of our homeland. It made me think about all the nuances of our culture that I wanted to learn about and share with my child.
